Whitefish Montana has the esseance of a quaint small town surrounded by mountains.  I’ve heard countless stories of people moving here after they visited on vacation, or were driving through to go somewhere else and decided to stay.  Whitefish is a year round destination. 

The history of Whitefish began in late 1800’s as a fur trading center.  Then in the early 1900’s the first trees were cut for Whitefish’s town site.  The city’s original name was “Stumptown”.  The Great Northern Railway and logging industry flourished as the city developed.  Whitefish still has a lot of the “old west” charm today. 

There are endless activities year round in Whitefish including skiing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, fly-fishing, hunting, white water rafting, canoeing, mountain biking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, ice climbing, horse back riding, water skiing, wakeboarding, and boating.  Glacier National Park is a short drive away an awe-inspiring place.  If you could only do one thing when you come to Whitefish I would recommend going to Glacier National Park.
